First Aid Kits
Every pet owner should have a first aid kit at home for their pets:
Dog/Cat/Small Mammal/Bird/Reptile- Sturdy Case or Pack
- Emergency Telephone Numbers
- Clean, heavy towel or thick blanket (Can be used to carry an injured animal or dry and warm a wet animal)
- Various sizes of towels (for handling the smaller animals, birds and reptiles)
- Basket Muzzle (dogs), Welding Gloves (cats)
- 3” Gauze rolls
- Gauze pads
- Adhesive medical tape
- Absorbent cotton balls and swabs
- Scissors with rounded tips
- Tweezers
- Small hemostats
- Magnifying glass (to visualize small thorns, splinters)
- Sturdy pet nail clippers
- Rectal thermometer
- Penlight/Flashlight
- Styptic powder or corn starch (can be used to stop mild persistent bleeding)
- Eyewash
- Triple antibiotic ointment
- Sterile Saline
- Sterile KY Jelly
- Betadine/Iodine
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Small bowl
- Fresh/bottled water
- Ice Pack
- Latex or Nitrile Gloves
